One vital
part of the ministry of Bethlehem is a small group of committed members who
make up our Presbyterian Women. Meeting the
first Wednesday night of the month, ten months of the year, this group is
devoted to faithful Christian service, serious Bible study, and regular
fellowship with each other. Spiritual renewal becomes an important aspect of
the interaction as this group participates in an annual overnight retreat.
Our Presbyterian Women have used profits from past bazaars and the sale of our most recent cookbook to benefit the following:
• Social Service efforts to provide school supplies to needy children, • Hurricane relief • sponsorship of a needy family at Christmas • donations to Turning Point, a local battered women's shelter, and • donations to Barium Springs, a home for troubled children.
Parade of Tables The Presbyterian Women organize an annual event called the Parade of Tables for the purpose of providing women of all ages with an enjoyable morning of food and fellowship, and to raise money for mission projects throughout the year. Women sign up to host, decorate their table with a theme, then invite other women young and old to come enjoy their time together. Women are also given the opportunity to bid on handcrafted and donated items in the Parade of Tables Silent Auction. In 2012, the event will be held March 17th.
